The University of Cambridge is one of the UK’s biggest and most successful universities with more than 18,000 students. Girton College was founded in 1869 and is famous for being Britain’s first residential college for women.
A £6.5 million development was sought by the University of Cambridge to the Ash Court student accommodation wing of the Girton College building.
Stroma Tech provided air testing and design consultancy services throughout the project to help meet energy and sustainability targets.
Sample tests were carried out to confirm the robustness of key sealing details and highlight any opportunities for improvement.
The final air test for the building was 1.87m3/(m2 hr)@ 50 Pa which complied with Building regulation requirements and helped achieve the energy and sustainability goals to which the project had aspired.
The project was recognised by RIBA winning the RIBA East Sustainability Award 2014.
