Thorncliffe Hall, a Georgian building, has undergone major refurbishment to become Chapeltown Academy, a school offering excellent facilities for 160 sixth form students ranging from 16 to 18 year olds.
The original brief from the client was to conduct a Fire Risk Assessment whilst building work is underway within a tight timescale to meet with the deadline of the schools opening day. It became clear that a sprinkler assessment was also required under Building Bulletin (BB 100)
Working with Chapeltown Academy Manager, Architects, Building Control Officers, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service and Building Contractors, the risk assessment was completed and outstanding work and policies were put in place.
This ensures that Chapeltown Academy meets with legislation under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and appease their insurance company.
