Stroma Technology Ltd is a testing, assessment and consultancy provider to the UK’s building and construction industry. Based in Wakefield, we deliver nationwide though home-based technicians, assessors and consultants. Among our key services is acoustic testing and consultancy, applied to new construction projects on behalf of main contractors and builders, for which we are UKAS accredited.
We seek a senior acoustic consultant to provide quality consultancy to our customers, as well as head up our existing acoustics team (of 5 staff) and strategically build our acoustics business.
Our nationally dispersed acoustic testing team primarily undertake sound insulation testing within new-build residential developments as required for Building Regulations and client specifications. We also undertake consultancy works, such as on design detailing, environmental noise, etc, and have invested in high-end acoustic modelling software to enhance these capabilities.
It is our firm belief that we are well placed to grow this business unit by virtue of offering additional services to our existing customers and new ones. However, we need a senior technical leader to drive this growth, drawing on their previous experience in delivering wider service offerings than ours, as well as to lead from the front.
This role will report to the Head of Testing and will carry a national remit. As such, the home location of the successful candidate is flexible, although the ability to make regular appearances at both our Wakefield and Sheffield office.
The ideal candidate would be a technically accomplished acoustician with particular experience in buildings acoustics, who believes they have either the experience or instinct to step into a strategic business management role with commercial and technical accountabilities attaching, whilst retaining a willingness to undertake fee-earning assignments and maintain regular face-to-face customer contact.
Responsibilities for this role will include the development and implementation of strategic growth plans, hiring and developing staff accordingly, working with our marketing and sales teams, ensuring our continued compliance with our UKAS accreditation obligations, overseeing major projects/contracts, delivering more high-profile or complex consultancy projects personally, dealing with customers/prospects in both commercial and technical matters.
