SENIOR ACOUSTIC CONSULTANT

Stroma Tech is a leading provider of accredited testing, assessment and consultancy services to facilitate the development, refurbishment or management of energy-efficient buildings.

Traditionally well known for the provision of UKAS accredited sound insulation testing services, we have made some key appointments over the last 18 months of highly experienced consultants. These appointments have resulted in a dramatic growth in workload and revenue, involving a diverse range of large and small scale projects.

Due to this growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Consultant (up to senior level) to join our team in Wakefield.

The ideal candidate shall have the following attributes:

  • You will be an experienced consultant with a minimum of 5 years PQE, educated to degree level in a relevant subject area and be a full corporate member of the Institute of Acoustics.
  • You will be proficient in the use of CADNA and be able to lead projects in relation to planning applications and other projects requiring environmental noise impact assessment.
  • You must have demonstrable experience in acoustic design and be comfortable with the attendance at design team meetings, and in delivering detailed acoustic reports to deadlines and to a highly technical level.
  • Actively contribute to and assist with the technical development of the remotely based Acoustic Engineers where necessary and co-ordinate and periodically undertake noise surveys and sound insulation testing.

SENIOR SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT (SBEM)

Reporting to: London Area Manager

Main purpose of the role:

Stroma Tech is seeking a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our new team, within the central London or Watford area, to assist with the delivery and growth of BREEAM and BREEAM-related services.

The role will predominantly comprise the delivery of BREEAM assessment and include occasional Part L compliance consultancy and business development activities.  The candidate will be working in conjunction with the regional BDM and supported by the head office team (Yorkshire).

Key tasks:

  • Carrying out BREEAM assessments and providing expert advice to our clients.
  • Management and coordination of multiple projects.
  • Attendance at design team meetings to develop BREEAM strategies and to communicate responsibilities and guidance to relevant members.
  • Delivering technical reports to clients, which may include formal presentation.
  • Providing assistance to the operations and estimating departments in constructing accurate fee proposals.
  • Assist and develop junior members of staff.

Person specification

REQUIRED:

  • BREEAM Assessor (2011/2014) – at least 3 years’ experience in the complete delivery of commercial assessments.
  • BREEAM AP or ‘AP-ready’.
  • Strong understanding of Government policy and Building Regulations concerning energy and statements.
  • Ability to work autonomously and to manage client expectations.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Full clean driving license and willingness to travel throughout the UK (including stay away from home when required).
  • The right to live and work within the UK.
  • A ‘can-do’ and positive attitude.

PREFERRED:

  • Membership of a relatable professional body (Energy Institute, CIBSE, IMechE, RICS, etc).
  • Working knowledge of Tracker+.
  • Working experience of IES-VE or EDSL Tas DSM software.
  • Domestic or non-domestic Energy Assessor qualification.

SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT (SAP)

Location: Central London, Watford or Wakefield

Reporting to: London Area Manager

Main purpose of the role:

Stroma Tech is seeking a Sustainability Consultant to join our new team within the Central London, Watford area or Wakefield to assist with the delivery and growth of SAP and SAP-related services.

The role will predominantly comprise the delivery of SAP assessment and consultancy to help our clients meet compliance targets in the most technically and economically feasible manner.  The role is available at either London or Watford where the candidate will be working in conjunction with the regional Business Development Manager and supported by the head office team (Yorkshire) or at the company head office in Wakefield.

Key tasks:

  • Carrying out on-construction SAP assessment and provision of expert advice to  our clients.
  • Attendance at design team meetings to develop SAP compliance strategies and provide sound design advice.
  • Management and coordination of multiple projects.
  • Delivering technical reports to clients, which may include formal presentation.
  • Providing assistance to the operations and estimating departments in constructing accurate fee proposals.
  • Assist and develop junior members of staff.

Person specification

REQUIRED:

  • Qualified On-construction Domestic Energy Assessor – at least 2 years’ experience in the delivery of compliance assessments in a Consultancy Environment within the UK.
  • Strong understanding of Approved Document Part L1a/b and related third tier documents.
  • Strong written communication skills including technical report writing.
  • Experience in LZC technology selection and the compilation of energy strategies and statements, including CHP.
  • Detailed understanding of U-value calculation methodology.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to manage client expectations.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Full clean driving license and willingness to travel throughout the UK (including stay away from home when required).
  • The right to live and work in the UK.
  • A ‘can-do’ and positive attitude.

PREFERRED:

  • Good working knowledge of Stroma FSAP, Sketchup and AutoCAD software.
  • Membership of a related professional body (Energy Institute, CIBSE, IMechE, RICS, etc).
  • Experience or qualification of non-domestic energy assessment.
  • BREEAM experience.
  • Non-domestic SBEM software experience and knowledge of Part L2a/b.

BREEAM / SAP / SBEM Assessor

ENERGY AUDITOR (ESOS)

Reporting to: Head of Technical Services

Main purpose of the role:

Stroma Tech is seeking Energy Auditors based in the South East, Midlands and Yorkshire areas on a 12 month fixed term contract. Responsible for the delivery of Energy Audits into existing buildings and organisations, both within the structure of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and for other general clients.

Key tasks:

  • Conducting energy audits of existing buildings
  • Reviewing energy consumption and benchmarking against industry good practice and ESOS legislation
  • Obtaining ESOS ‘Lead Auditor’ certification/qualification (when detailed)
  • Liaising with delivery partner organisations
  • Delivering written technical reports to clients

Person specification

REQUIRED:

  • Strong experience and/or training/qualifications in the field of energy use in buildings
  • Experience of the delivery of energy audits into existing buildings
  • Strong written communication skills including technical report writing (examples required at interview stage)
  • Keen understanding of energy efficiency technologies including, but not strictly limited to, renewable technologies
  • Ability to work autonomously and to manage time and workload
  • Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and clients

CDM Manager

Reports to: Director of BBSE

Main Purpose of the Role

To manage, direct and oversee the health and safety teams across the Stroma Group. You will be responsible for planning and maintaining work systems, procedures and policies that enable and encourage the optimum performance of staff.

Reporting to the Board of Directors you will also be responsible for ensuring that all individual and team targets are achieved and that the health and safety teams continue to prosper.

Key Tasks

  • Provide oversight and direction to the employees operating within the health and safety teams in accordance with Stroma’s policies and procedures.
  • Manage the overall operational, budgetary and financial responsibilities and activities of all H&S departments.
  • Plan, evaluate and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency and output.
  • Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable and defensible in accordance with Stroma’s policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of the department.
  • Manage the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out functions of the department. Prepares periodic report to senior management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment.
  • Performed other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
