Caerphilly County Borough Council in southern Wales formed in 1996 following the merger of the Mid Glamorgan and Gwent boroughs. It serves a population of just over 178,500.




Carbon Reduction Strategy

Stroma Tech was appointed to assist the Council in achieving their ambitious carbon reduction goals, set out in a 5-year high level carbon strategy, by conducting a wholesale review of potential carbon reduction measures across the council’s estate of over 800 buildings.

Energy Management

All the Council’s Energy Management Systems were reviewed and recommendations made for improvement. The review included examination of the Council’s use of their AM&T software package, energy consumption reporting and procedures for utility procurement.

A Carbon Reduction Investment Action Plan was developed to form a basis for investment decisions and strategies for achieving improved energy efficiency and CO2 emissions reductions in line with Council targets.  Specific recommendations to achieve meaningful energy savings in 6 key sites, including the flagship Penallta House.
