Air Tightness Calibration Services

Stroma Tech is a UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accredited calibration laboratory (Lab No. 4126). We offer UKAS calibration service for the building regulation Blower Door air tightness testing equipment and Formal (non-UKAS) calibration for room integrity testing fans, including Retrotec, Minneapolis and Infiltec models.

UKAS Calibration for Air-Tightness Testing Equipment

UKAS calibrated equipment must be used to test buildings for air-leakage in accordance with the following standards:

  • Building Regulations (Part L, Section 6 or Part F).
  • Passivhaus.
  • HBN4 (NHS standards for isolation facilities).
  • PFEER (Prevention of Fire Explosion and Emergency Response).

In a UKAS calibration, the air tightness testing equipment is calibrated and a certificate is issued in accordance with the laboratory accreditation requirements of UKAS.

UKAS is one of the signatories to the International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (ILAC). This provides an arrangement for the mutual recognition of calibration certificates issued by accredited laboratories. Therefore, all UKAS calibrations are performed to an internationally recognised standard.

Formal Calibration for Room Integrity Testing Equipment

A formal calibration is also needed for equipment that is used to calculate retention times for fire suppression systems, to comply with the following standards:

  • NFPA 2001.
  • BS EN 15004.
